Online Resources in Support of 1 to 1 Computing: Shoreline School District and the Digital Learning Commons

This class featured an educator from Shoreline School District as well as a vendor that only supports Washington Schools. For you Washington Educators you can check out the Digital Learning Commons website at:

http://www.learningcommons.org/

For non Washington state's they do give have some suggestions and implementations that other states might want to consider.

Unfortunately I couldn't find any information on the web about shorelines implementation of 1:1 laptops, but they did give out the following information:

They believe that professional development was essential in the implementation of 1:1

  • Each school was outfitted with a wireless network
  • Printing stations were setup at the end of the building wings
  • Support was low when 1:1 was implemented, but now everyone loves it!
  • The schools have parents pay for insurance on the laptops
  • They allow for students to take home their laptops
  • The have 1.5 instructional technologists per building

They Love 1:1!
